PART 1 - CÂU HỎI NGẮN

Cùng xem gợi ý của SIGMA Academy cho Part 1 Speaking chủ đề Concentration dưới đây nhé!

    • What times in your life do you need to concentrate on doing something?

Usually during my work/study time, but it is not realistic to keep concentration for the entire 8 hours a day, because I often get distracted by a few co-workers/ classmates. To regain my concentration, I have to list out the top priorities of the day and determine to deal with them without any distractions.

    • » realistic (thực tế): sensible and practical.
    • » keep concentration = maintain concentration = stay focused (tập kết): focus one’s attention or mental effort on a particular object or activity.
    • » be distracted = get distracted (bị phân tâm): be unable to concentrate because one’s mind is preoccupied.
    • » first/top priority (ưu tiên số một): something very important.
    • » to deal with something (giải quyết): to do something in order to achieve something or to solve a problem.
    • » distraction (sự lơi là, điều gây mất tập kết): a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.

    • Do you think people can do two things at the same time?
Honestly speaking, I don’t believe we can pay attention to two things at once because one task may be distracted by the other one, and finally we will probably end up with nothing accomplished.
    • » to pay attention to (chú ý/ giao hội): to listen to, watch, or consider something or someone very carefully.
    • » at once = simultaneously = at the same time (đồng thời).
    • » to end up with something (kết thúc/ lãnh hậu quả gì đó): to reach or come to a place, condition, or situation that was not planned or expected.
    • » to accomplish (hoàn thành): achieve or complete successfully.

    • Do you ever find it difficult to stay focused (= hard to concentrate)?
I do. I find it hard to stay focused when there are loud noises around or when it comes to something that I am not into. But for things that I like, for example, my favorite game, I can play it without noticing hours and hours have passed.
    • » when it comes to something (khi nói đến điều gì đó): when considering some particular thing or action.
    • » to be into something/ someone (thích): to be enthusiastic about or interested in.

    • Do you (ever) do anything to help you concentrate?
I am usually absent-minded if I am distracted by several different things at the same time. So if I want to concentrate and be efficient, I really need a clutter-free I like my space clear of noise and social network, so I will choose to work in a quiet atmosphere. I would also turn off email and Facebook notifications to prevent me fromjumping from one thing to another.
    • » absent-minded (đãng trí): likely to forget things because you do not give your attention to what is happening.
    • » clutter-free (gọn gàng): arranged in an orderly, tidy way.
    • » clear of (không có):
    • » to prevent someone from doing something (ngăn chặn ai làm việc gì): to stop somebody from doing something.
    • » to jump from one thing to another (nhảy từ việc này sang việc khác): stop doing what you are doing and start to do another thing.

    • How do you feel if someone disturbs you when you are studying?
It frustrates me, but it is quite hard to complain them about that because they maybe don’t know what I am doing. If they are playing music loudly, I will ask them to turn it down.
    • » to frustrate (gây khó chịu): to make someone feel annoyed or impatient.
    • » to complain about something (phàn nàn về việc gì): to say that you are not satisfied with something.
    • » to turn down (vặn nhỏ): to reduce the volume, heat, etc.
PART 2 - CÂU HỎI MIÊU TẢ

Describe a place, not your home, that is good for reading and writing.

    You should say:
    • What it is
    • Where it is
      • How often do you go there
      • Why you go there to read and write.
There are many places apart from my home where I read and write. One such place is my favourite library, the one in my university. It is normally open to the public, but during the exam periods, it is only accessible for the university students and staff…
